The GPA 1 is the first of three major practical exams in which students are expected to interview and examine a patient while being observed and graded. My exam was last Saturday morning. I received a score of 70.5 (70.0 is minimum to pass). As far as I'm concerned, 70.5 is just as good as 100%. I passed!!! Phew.

Chased back home again by the rain. I went out with precisely the wrong timing, because the sun is shining again now. Vaccine workshop today was interesting. I took a lot more notes than I'm sharing with you. One of the possible homework assignments is to "write a blog entry (3 paragraphs) about something about vaccines that you want to share with the public". Tough one, huh. I think I can do that. I already have that entry fomenting. It will be a message to mamas, because they are the ones at the mercy of the system if no one helps them get clear about what matters most for their babies.

Drew blood from a classmate again today. I keep making the same mistake, that is that I insert the needle into the vein well enough, but then my hand is unsteady and I back it out a little when I should be threading it into the vein. I caught myself today and kept the needle in the vein well enough to get two vials of blood. The classmate who punctured me also got two vials, so it was a success. At the end of this quarter we have a proficiency exam on venipuncture. I always feel quite stressed after doing a blood draw.
