--there have been many studies on fish oil in the last 15 years
--British Journal of Nutrition, special supplement
--suppresses immune response in healthy or sickly pts
--when you stop taking it you may get sick
--brand matters: nordic naturals is good, carlson's is good
--consider possible mercury contamination with off brands or equatorial fish
--supports detox (so does StJW, grapefruit, etc)

EFFECTS OF HIGH DOSE
--high dose is 14g/day!!
--increases antioxidant enzymes (so don't take high dose during infection because you need to be able to oxidize invaders, low dose OK, around .2g/day)
--increases Th3, decreases Th1 and 2 (low dose decreases Th2 only)
--decreases adhesion molecules (which allow WBC's to escape BV's, so decreases inflam)
--decreases Cox-II and PGE2 levels (decrease inflam)
--decreases pro-inflam cytokines (IL-6 and TNFalpha)
