Back into myself
Feb. 21st, 2008 08:49 pmAll it takes is the tiniest little descent back into myself and things come clear again. I am in a position where I keep retreating into a turtle shell of fear and denial. It is not easy to keep my heart open. But tonight provoked by a friend teaching a meditation class I sat with a small group again and sat with myself. I arose awakened once again, if only temporarily. I know what I need to do. I think I know the cost. I do not know exactly how to do it. But I am doing it. I must. I must stay true to myself. I will surround myself with the best influences. I will be strong and nonviolent and honest and kind.
Biochemistry Bummers
Dec. 5th, 2007 03:41 pmWell that test is behind me but I have a feeling that the subject matter will come back to haunt me. Better pack the biochem book in the bag for the xmas travels. Argh. I was just standing in the hall talking with people and figuring out what all I missed. I hate it when I have an answer right and change it for the wrong. If I do pass it will be by the skin of my teeth.

You used to be a man of morals. You had heart, soul, and intelligence! But something happened. Did politics get to you? Too much money, too much power...you were not strong enough to stick to your true values. You are MY Senator, and I no longer respect you. But I think that somewhere in you there is still a spark of integrity, and it is to that spark that I speak.

Below I have quoted the closing paragraphs of Osama Bin Laden's broadcast on Al Jazeera TV from Thursday, January 19. I had not read it until today, but I am glad I finally did read it. He spoke about torture and rape, and of the hopeless suicides of American soldiers caught between fighting an unjust war and the punishing devices of a vicious government. He spoke about Bush's lies and of the financial support that he gets from "war merchants". Bin Laden is insightful and direct. I honor his fight to the death against our president, his cronies and our war and profit machine. I hear more compassion in his promise to give us hell than I hear in Bush's constant promise that they are "making progress" at sacrificing our young men for the almighty oil dollar. I am sorry that I am a hypocrite and pay taxes to a government which has so horrifically wronged so many people. As tax day approaches this becomes constantly more painful. There must be a better way.
