It depends on whether it makes it to where you want to go, and how much it might cost to fix it if it doesn't make it! You've been complaining about the truck for a long time. Do you think it will make it to TN? Or wherever you're planning to take it to?
I am aware of the unknowns. I have no intention of fixing it anymore. I'm getting AAA coverage before my drive. If it dies on the way I will have it towed to a junkyard and sell it for whatever I can get. It runs well. It may make it to TN and if it does, it is worth far more than $400 to me.
I wouldn't use the word "fool." I would say deliberate. You have had that truck for some time, and know its tendencies. Selling it would cause it to disappear. The money could be used for trans-continental transportation. Yet, you might not be ready to write the final chapter of you and your truck. When you are ready, you'll make a decision.
As for me, I commonly reference Tommy D's article about when you need to progress in your paddling. "Change something....the color of your helmet, what boat you are paddling, who you are paddling with...., but only when you are ready and need to..."
Well I'm pretty sure I AM a fool, but thanks for your confidence! I think my "new" (even older but 4WD and less miles) truck may be waiting for me in Flagstaff.
