Actually, I obediently filled it out. I'm 44 years of age and I think that may be the first time I've been counted. Unless my parents counted me sometime and I didn't know it.

I do find it amusing how riled up people get about it. I mean sure, worry about it if you're an illegal alien. It's worth worrying about. Fill it out so that the census taker man doesn't come to your door? Or don't fill it out and hide when the man comes. There are a lot of people in the US who want to chase out aliens just like those rednecks chased off the census taker.

I hear that 2010 will be the first year that nonwhite births outnumber white births in the US.

We do live in interesting times. Seems to bring out the best and worst of us.

I was a Census worker.

How many slaves do you own? ;)

No slaves yet, you? My great grandmother actually had a slave, she lived in the piedmont of North Carolina. I'm not sure how she got a slave as she was not rich.

But actually I don't get your joke. Did they used to ask that question in the census?

My dad and my landlady also both work taking the census. And both are sensitive to the issues of privacy and government intrusion.

That is very interesting. I don't have any ancestors who were in the South pre-slavery.

Yes, the slaves question was on the first Census. Sorry, but my issues with strict constructionism were showing. Nothing is perfect! The Constitution is one of the best, though.

You weren't being obedient. You were being responsible. The Constitution has both rights and responsibilities.

I don't even know how you can think so well on no food. I would faint. Kudos!

It's OK! I like it when you challenge me. =-] Though it's for sure true that I don't totally buy into any single document or party platform; nobody's got all the answers. That's why we're supposed to work together in this democracy thing to figure out the best answers together. Too bad about how that's turning out.

If you tried the not eating thing you'd probably be surprised how good you feel. I was. I've broken the fast--eaten two huge salads today! YUM. Once my body shifted over to ketone metabolism and found its balance that way, I had no more hunger. I didn't feel so hot on water only but it is the fast way to make your body shift over to burning fat.
