He was elected governor of Illinois in 2002, and in January 2003 suddenly the inmates got a new diet. Soy protein is cheaper than meat and diary, so the state could save money by feeding it to the prisoners. If meat is served, it is mixed with about 2/3 soy protein. Of course the Department of Corrections is costly to run. And Archer Daniels Midland (soy supplier) was a major contributor to Blagojevich's campaign. But is it really fair to feed prisoners a food-substitute that is increasingly demonstrated to be have toxicity, as well as being hormonally active?

I have googled this topic and they said that the hormones do not hurt men. it is like some kind of myth or something.

If you want to know more about soy's hormonal effects you can follow the tag....I've done some of my own finding out about it. Soy isoflavones are mildly estrogenic, and taken in small amounts are unlikely to do anything other than make a woman's PMS worse and a man's fat deposit a little more over the pectorals. Large amounts can have different effects, and tends to have more effect on men than women because their natural estrogen levels are lower.
