When I go back to the yoga mat I am grateful to all the teachers over the years who have taught me what it means to HAVE a practice. Now my practices are merging together. If I can be with myself, then I will be better equipped to be with others. If I can hear my body, I will be able to listen better to other bodies. The central lesson remains the same in all teachings, only some go the long way around.

sun salutations
pigeon
wide forward bend
revolved triangle
squats
headstand (several minutes)
a twisting hand balance

Hi - I'm just adding people tonight that have similar interests from my own list. Your LJ looked interesting, so I thought I'd add you (hope you don't mind). I've been doing yoga for years, but I never thought to post my practice... Interesting. :)

Hello and welcome! I have never posted my practice before but I have been paying attention to what I do if I have no assignment. What do you practice?

I'm a student of Ashtanga/Vinyasa. Although, I just moved across the country, and right now I'm just practicing whatever it is that the local yoga studio offers. They have some wild names for their practices that don't necessarily relate to any one study style... but hey, it's yoga, right? :)

That's what I've found. Ashtanga offers a basic ingredient of yoga practice: moving with your breath. I believe it is fundamental to all yoga to move (and BE) with the breath, and to vinyasa (for basic strength) between asanas. I like to take classes from EVERYBODY but I do not believe everything I am told. I find it fascinating to get completely opposite advice from so many teachers. My body and breath are the teachers that give me the truest information. Many blessings on your practice!! I look forward to reading about it.
