When I go back to the yoga mat I am grateful to all the teachers over the years who have taught me what it means to HAVE a practice. Now my practices are merging together. If I can be with myself, then I will be better equipped to be with others. If I can hear my body, I will be able to listen better to other bodies. The central lesson remains the same in all teachings, only some go the long way around.

sun salutations
pigeon
wide forward bend
revolved triangle
squats
headstand (several minutes)
a twisting hand balance

Hi - I'm just adding people tonight that have similar interests from my own list. Your LJ looked interesting, so I thought I'd add you (hope you don't mind). I've been doing yoga for years, but I never thought to post my practice... Interesting. :)

Hello and welcome! I have never posted my practice before but I have been paying attention to what I do if I have no assignment. What do you practice?

I'm a student of Ashtanga/Vinyasa. Although, I just moved across the country, and right now I'm just practicing whatever it is that the local yoga studio offers. They have some wild names for their practices that don't necessarily relate to any one study style... but hey, it's yoga, right? :)

That's what I've found. Ashtanga offers a basic ingredient of yoga practice: moving with your breath. I believe it is fundamental to all yoga to move (and BE) with the breath, and to vinyasa (for basic strength) between asanas. I like to take classes from EVERYBODY but I do not believe everything I am told. I find it fascinating to get completely opposite advice from so many teachers. My body and breath are the teachers that give me the truest information. Many blessings on your practice!! I look forward to reading about it.

yogafied!

hi darlin'!
I just logged on to announce I am online at mi casa!
Yes, I finally got a laptop and a home internet connection.
It's round 2 of my home computer/internet use...my goal being less gay male porn, less picking up women..and more career oriented use..i.e. taking the steps towards earning a nursing degree! :o)
hehe!
At least that's the goal in mind..
Now I need to get it in action.
i.e getting a full-time job at the juvenile detention center while completing the prerequisites for nursing school..
I've been layed off from the forest service for just over a week, and have come up with a plan!
Just partied like a rockstar for my bday/fat tire fest day..stephen marley concert..flirting with the whole town..
and now I'm back to acting my age and gettin' my sh** togetha!
Thought I'd check in and say hi!
oh, and yoga is a great tool! I've been practicing much more in the past 2 months at home..and I wanna talk more about yoga with you.
LOVE YA!
p!

Hey lady, it's great that you are finally hooked UP with internet at home. It is a morass, though, if you wander. Good luck with the job hunting!! Are you single these days or just acting that way? =-] Hey, I didn't know you settled on nursing. It's a good deal. Definitely talk to Shannon about the flight nurse gig: she loves it, it's high excitement and requires solid competence of everyone involved. Not like a hospital....

Note on my yoga practice from last night: I ended up doing a bunch of back bends (!) and pilates just before bed! Having a warm loose core makes me sleep good.
