KICK JUICE
2 Escholtzia californica
2 Piper methysticum
1 Vitex agnus castus
1 Avena sativa
-and either- 2 Valeriana officinalis-or-1 Valeriana and 1 Marrubium vulgare –
Consider Marrubium if bronchial irrit
Consider Lobelia if tobacco addiction, caution: emetic
Kava’s toxic liver alkaloids are in leaves and stems, not roots, so use root-based tincture
Valerian can inhibit UGT mediated hepatic glucuronidation and detoxification in vitro

Interesting... I hadn't heard of those yet, but am aware of phenylalanine and nutmeg for increasing dopamine, as many people with addictions are low in dopamine.

I'm always fascinated by how these mixtures were discovered and developed!

I can't tell you the whole thinking behind this recipe but it is different from another "Kick Juice" I ran across while working in the clinic. Vitex works on the hypothalamus and pituitary and stimulates hormone production including LH, Prog and PRL. Avena is nutritive and calming. Piper makes me relaxed and slightly euphoric. They're fun to play with as well as study.

You know, people with addictions may be low in dopamine receptors, so even when they are replete for the neurotransmitter they are still dissatisfied.
