This squirt spot above is not far from Portland, on the Washougal. There's another good squirt spot on the Clackamas.
I just acquired a squirt boat, and this is what it is designed to do.
I think it was made by Jim Snyder.

I don't quite get what's happening there. The boat is traveling on the river bottom? The boat looks flat and very pointed. Can you roll one of those? Are they more for play than travel?

Only for play. The boat "flies" underwater like a wing in air, it catches currents and goes down, and floats along like a submarine. Hard to roll. Uncomfortable. Weird. Fun.

Interesting! I'm assuming you can force it upward whenever you're ready. Is there a danger of getting "stuck" on the bottom? Does it have a quick release like a normal kayak?

You can come back up by tilting your hips--the bouyancy will cause it to plane back to the surface. They do get stuck on the bottom more than normal kayaks---because they GO down there. And they are harder to get out of, because the deck is so flat that your legs have to be lubricated to get them in. =-]

Yep. Most paddlers (who have ever heard of it) consider squirtists to be insane. And to some degree, it's true.

Haha - squirtists... not squirters? ;-)

It does sound a bit mad.

Wow. That was like a short film about why I am afraid to go in kayaks.

It's just not my element, but I do see the appeal. Have fun playing!

Ha! All kayaking is not as crazy as squirting. But it's close.
