Here's further clarification on a few food items that I wasn't avoiding as well as I could. Canned tomatoes, for example.

Also, on some of the toxic dyes found in processed foods and what sorts of pathologies they cause (mostly in rodents): http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/02/24/are-you-or-your-family-eating-toxic-food-dyes.aspx

I'm good on everything here except canned tomatoes. I want to buy some bulk tomatoes and can my own... the first year will be expensive because of jar prices, but worth it, IMO. I use a LOT of tomatoes in winter cooking.

Wow! I'm glad none of those feature in my diet. I have had canned tomatoes, but I have never been a bulk user, just once in a while. I always thought there was something nasty about microwave popcorn, but then I'm not keen on popcorn. We try to avoid the bad beef already and we always get the hormone free milk. The apples weren't a surprise, there was all that Alar fuss about twenty years ago, but the potatoes are a surprise to me.

Ah, Alar was banned in 1989. I thought it was about 20 years.
