I think this is terrific. It's a song called "Dead dead dead" from the makers of South Park. The children's voices singing are so Christmassy. =-] Be careful, it can get stuck in your head. Dark humor aside, it does remind me to live in the moment.

It's funny because it's true.

This really made me laugh. Nobody wants to face the reality of death. I have a warped POV, because my dad died when I was five. I try to remind me that this is IT.

My sister in law put something on FB about wondering what she should become. I wrote that she is it now. I mean FFS...I guess this sort of stuff isn't obvious to other people.

Yep, here we is for as long as we is and then we is not. And it's just what is. But deny it we do, avidly. =-]

I like living in the moment. :-)

We watched the most interesting Nova last night. It was about Darwin and his theories, and moved further into genetics. Scientists are starting to figure out WHY we mutated differently from the apes, where the genes vary. It really drove home to me that This Is It.

No wonder I have such a difficult time with the concept of spirituality and religion.

So tell! WHY? We are still quite similar to monkeys genetically, but we have lost the ability to manufacture vitamin C! Phooey.

randomness:.....of course we humans want to deny that we are animals, to set ourselves apart. This is the nature of our minds, which desire to never end. This is why meditation is so difficult. Our minds are too big and too busy and think that they are the boss! But they aren't because we die.

I wouldn't do justice to an explanation. Something to do with muscle-building genes, and a substantial difference between the genetic makeup of our brains.

randomness:... this is why I do not hold out faith that humans will change and become peace-loving creatures who live in harmony. Many people claim they would be that way, but the moment they perceived a threat to themselves or a loved one, they would fight to protect them. It's in our blood. Everything is linked to survival, whether or not we want to admit it.

Yep, we are critters with instinct....so the question of society becomes this: how can we organize ourselves to optimize happiness and peaceable community, and minimize conflict and strife? I think the solution has to do with units of society that are more tribal in size. The problem for most of us is that we do no have a tribe, so we are like lone wolves, always on guard, never fully happy or relaxed. Having a partner is not the same as having a tribe, but it is a step in the right direction.
