It is my humble opinion that Cops exist to enforce the laws not to resist necessary or reasonable reforms and changes to those laws. Their job should never be to maintain bad laws or do harm where they can avoid it.
Police are people too, but I absolutely have to admit that this prohibition has had people from policy setters to beat walkers totally spinning their wheels and making the numerous problems of the matter worse.
Yes...it is not the job of the cops to make the laws.... I wish our congress weren't quite so corrupt. But cops are citizens, and it is the business of all citizens to have our say about our values so that our representatives know who/what they are representing.
