Made a Five Phases necklace as my final project for my class in Foundations of Chinese Medicine, walked to school and turned it in. Met with K and went out for a late breakfast (good!). Went "thrifting" to two second hand stores where I got enough "new" clothes to keep me entertained for a long time. Wearing a new blue summer dress right now. Ran out of time and had to run home at 4:15 to get to work by 5:00. There was a bunch of congratulation you finished your first year flowers waiting for me on my porch, from Suzanne. I smile and tear with gratitude every time I see them. Kitten is sniffing them now. Grabbed a frozen meal and rode my bike to serve my last shift of the season as security guard at school. Arrived at work and Jordanian Joe the weekend security guy was there. Talked religion and politics with Joe. Checked my phone messages and my boss J had called at 4:15 and told me I didn't have to come in at 5. Too late, I was there. Called her, she didn't answer, left a message that I'm already at work and will consult Joe about what to do. Consulted Joe and he thought that since I had showed up as agreed I could work the shift if I desired. Sat there and read magazines. Visited with classmates who were cleaning out their lockers and waiting for rush hour traffic to wane. Checked my mailbox and got my Immunology test back already: I got 100%!!! Joe came back and we decided we want to continue the conversation about politics and religion, and so we traded info. He is my kind of people, and I think he will lead me to more of my kind. Must find this Rimsky Korsakoffee House he speaks of. Logged my hours on the computer at school, turned out all the lights and locked the doors, got on my bike to head home just after 7pm. Rode across the Ross Island Bridge and when almost to the pedestrian bridge on 9th encountered a large group of bicyclists (maybe 50?) headed back into town and taking a lane on the bridge. Did a U-turn and joined them. Twas a Critical Mass Ride. Chatted with the cops while riding; they were cool. They even called themselves "cops". One cop said the city has less beat cops now than they did 17 years ago when he started. He also said they "aren't even trying to deal with the drug issue" in the Northeast. He stopped the traffic for us. Once across the bridge we turned north, and went into the riverside park when we could. Met up with another 100? 200? bicyclists, a great many of whom were either dressed in white outfits with black spots and horns (mooing like cows, too) and a few more aggressive bicyclists wearing cowboy hats and boots and shouting giddyap at the cattle. It was hilarious. We wandered through the parks to the steel bridge and crossed to the east side. It was like being herded into a lot for slaughter, we were packed in so tight. I asked and there is a big party at someone's house at the end of the ride. I broke out in front and headed for home. Got home at 8pm and in the mail is the $1700 check that I have been trying to get out of my Arizona bank since April. Now finally chilling. Ahhh. What a day. Thank you Universe, I needed that.

Wow, crazy day. Congratulations on the 100%, and for finishing your first year. I can't believe you have been through an entire school year, already!

Thanks, I can barely believe it either. They say second year is harder, so my project this summer is to get my body and mind in a healthier place before the slam. "Summer" break is only 2 months long! Funny, when I work for the summer it is more like nine months long. Hmmmm.

I'm glad you are taking the time to take care of yourself before the next year starts. You have been running hard for a long time. Enjoy your summer!
