I can hear the booming music from the Pine Mountain Ampitheater out at Fort Tuthill. They're bringing in pretty big acts to a small town and I am curious to know how many tickets they are selling. Tonight was Dwight Yoakam.... I bet it was a good show but I don't like hearing the thumping percussion into the evening---this place used to be quiet at night but for the semi-distant Interstate highway--I-17 is the one I can hear from here.

During my walk on the Urban Trail, I listened to the same song over and over again, trying to figure out the words. The name of the song is "If I Needed You". Written by Townes Van Zandt, my recording is of Lyle Lovett. Touches me, still does, but I must practice singing it until I can do so without crying. This is a song that I would like to be able to sing, along with the few others that I know. And this song just happens to be at a very nice moderate walking pace.

If I Needed You

If I needed you would you come to me
would you come to me and ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the seas for to ease your pain

In the night forlorn the morning's born
And the morning shines with the lights of love
You will miss the sunrise
If you close your eyes
That would break my heart in two

(then the bridge)

The lady's with me now since I showed her how
to lay her lily hand in mine
Loop and Lil agree
she's a sight to see
A treasure for the poor to find

If I needed you would you come to me
would you come to me
and ease my pain
If you needed me I would come to you
I would swim the seas for to ease your pain

Wow, I thought the bowl might contain most of the sound, but yes - the concert was loud. We thought we had seats under cover, but nooo.... the VIP pass that we won simply got us into a VIP bar and bathrooms, which we never used. So we were quite unprepared to sit in the lawn, but did so anyway, got wet, hung out for about half the concert and left. How late did it go?

The concert was sold out. It was nice to see a venue in Flagstaff packed to the gills. People seemed to be enjoying themselves in spite of the rain.

Lyle Lovett has a great voice.

Well that sux that you guys were sitting in the wet grass......VIP my ASS. Anyway. Seems like the noise stopped floating pretty late, after 10pm. Show didn't start at 6, did it. I was going to walk down there but on my walk the music stopped and I thought the show was over. Then I got home and it started up again.

Remind me to play this song for you. Lyle Lovett has such voice control----my voice is not FIT enough to change pitches as quickly and accurately as he can.....Impressive.
