Half of Americans still haven't heard of Ron Paul

I've heard of Ron Paul. I wish he'd leave the Republicans and either run as an independent or as a libertarian. He says so much that makes sense - I just wish he wasn't aligned with the freaking republicans of all people. But still, either way the man has my support. Even if he doesn't get the nomination - I'll still write him in.

Yeay! I'm psyched that you've come to respect Ron Paul as I have. Don't let what the Neocons have done poison the word "republican" for you. The Republican Party is a political institution with a long and respected history. What the neoconservatives have done since they have been in power is contrary to the principles of republicanism, including fiscal conservatism and restraint from foreign entanglements. These "neoconservative" corporate buffoons that have given the republican party a bad name and they are not true republicans. They need to go to jail and the true republicans out there will agree with me. The neocons have hijacked the GOP.

Oh, I know normal republicans are not the same as the neocons - but so much of the party has been taken over that it's disheartening. Hell, I live in Montana - 90% of this state are republicans, and they're all good people. :) So regardless - I'm definitely voting for Ron Paul!

Most people don't want to think aobut it. They vote the way they do because their parents did, or someone they trusted told them to. Most people don't take the time to find out what is going on. I grew up Democrat indoctrinated and many friends and family are stunned to find out that I am registered Republican and planning to vote for one. It takes some flexible thinking to realize that no one side has all the answers, and that the group you belong to may not define you.

Interestingly enough, there are more traditional republicans who haven't heard of Ron Paul than democrats, perhaps because the republicans haven't felt quite so left out in the cold. So you're in a position to do a lot of good, talking to all those republicans about fiscal conservatism (we're 9 trillion in debt) and avoiding foreign entanglements (not trade, but wars). Good luck!
