I slept well for the early part of the night, then my mind got stuck thinking about going on a Grand Canyon trip. In my dream I am invited on an 18 day GC adventure by a dear old friend (Renee). I want to go. The hitch is that I have less than one day to get ready. I have lists and I own all the appropriate gear, so it should be no big deal, but for some reason I stress about it. A lot. I pack and repack but I am still not sure I have what I need. I can't find my master list on my computer. I finally go to the library trying to print my list so that I can then check things off. I wake up, feeling stressed about a trip I am not even going on.

OK, here I will begin to list the nuts and bolts of the housemate contract that I will have my new housemate sign when she arrives on Saturday. Please comment and let me know what you think is essential to specify when allowing a stranger to move into your homespace. Thanks.

Last night was the final rowing class and my energy was so low that I laid on my back on the concrete floor, waiting for class to begin. I knew from my bike ride to the boathouse that the wind was up on the river, and the instructor was saying just that. She had us work out for a half hour on the "ergs" while a couple people carried the remainder of the oars to the dock. She said that an "erg" is a measure of work. She told us to set the ergs on the lowest possible setting, but I was disobedient, because I am so strong that if I have it set on the lowest setting, there isn't enough resistance and my stroke suffers, my rhythm is lost. I cranked for about 15 minutes, getting my heart rate up and getting a good burn in my lower core.

The kitten just brought me a gift. It was the front half of a frog, with entrails hanging and only one leg left. I was in the middle of about a dozen tasks at the moment that I saw the frog. The task most immediately at hand was making the bed. The kitten was very excited, clawing and scrambling under the bed as she likes to do when it is being made. But then she scrambled her frog half into my vision.
