I was surprised to see my results so far away from Ron Paul, because I really do like a lot of what he says. I think he wants less government involvement than I do, and that is where we differ.

Date: 2007-07-08 03:24 am (UTC)To tell the truth I see Ron Paul as the trimmer of our governmental orchard. Apple trees cease to bear fruit if they are not pruned. Our government, all its branches, are as rot-filled as the tree out my back door. I am as much socialist as libertarian, but I believe that our government's expenditures are so out of hand that we need to cut off EVERYBODY who is feeding at the federal tit, and then start over. Ron Paul would trim the dead wood, and kick off the parasites. Once we were not burdened with reckless spending for purposes that we don't endorse, we'd be able to get out of debt, as a nation. Then we could regrow our social institutions. We could create new programs that care for the people better than these shells that have already been pillaged. By being frugal and internationally ethical, we could have another era of American wealth and power.
We could refrain from squandering the rest of our birthright. Not that I believe that I have any particular right to be wealthy, but I was born on this rich continent and I hate to see it wasted before my eyes.

uh, he's black.

Date: 2007-07-10 08:40 pm (UTC)I want our government to obey its own laws. And I want our nation to stop going around playing global policeman, and spending our national fortune.
So I'm pretty firmly libertarian these days. I have a certain socialist bent as well---there are some social programs that I think do a lot of good---but for now we need to restrain our spending on wars and our subsidizing of corporations, and Ron Paul would do that. No dickin' around.
