Interesting. I don't think he is crazy, but I don't think he is realistic either. There are too many federally funded programs to just cut income tax overnight. We're already running in the red, and a cut like that would directly affect the people who can least afford it - people who don't have health insurance or rely on government programs for food or housing.

I like a lot of what he says. I think he's pretty sharp too. I agree that we shouldn't have a military presence in every country in the world. If we leave those countries, what will happen? China or Russia will move in. Does that matter? I don't know. Does it matter if the U.S. isn't the world super-power any longer? Not in my book.

If he cut the funding to the war the same day he cut the income tax, it might balance out. All the stats I have heard tell me that our military expenditures far outweigh the cost of assorted programs that serve citizens in our country. One day of the Iraq war costs enough to give us all unlimited healthcare for a year....or some such wildly unimaginable thing. NOT that Paul would give us healthcare, quite the contrary, he would leave more money in our own pockets to purchase what we wanted.

I really like what he says about stopping the government from printing more money whenever they need cash. They cause inflation which hurts the people, to save their asses. It isn't right.

I don't know what would happen if we bailed out of our international domination strategy, but I would like to see it happen. If we kept our cards and wealth a bit closer to our chests, we might be able to stay wealthy as a nation a little bit longer. Instead of doing what's happening now: the depletion of the middle class to fund agression.

We still have the ability to "project power" if needed----we just don't need to set up shop all over the world. China and Russia are both gaining power no matter what we do.

Personally I think we'd have more friends on the planet if we didn't go around "nation building"....
