liveonearthIf the truth brings them down, then by all mean let them go down. This story reinforces for me the fact that businesses are never as ethical as people. It's no surprise that a wind power company would want to bury bird death data, but it reminds me of pharmaceuticals that try to hide negative findings about their drugs. You might think wind power is green and renewable and good, but perhaps it is not. You might think that nuclear power is suicidally dangerous and evil, but perhaps it is not.

The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Utah said the information release will cause “irreparable harm” to Pacificorp, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway Energy.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A wind-energy company is suing in federal court to block the government from releasing information to The Associated Press about how many birds are found dead at its facilities.
The AP sought the information from the Interior Department in March 2013 under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act. It is part of the AP’s investigation into bird deaths at wind farms.
Wind energy companies objected, including Pacificorp of Portland, Oregon. They said the information was confidential, submitted voluntarily and should not be revealed.
Last month, the government informed Pacificorp and other wind companies that it intended to release some information to the AP.
