Texas GOP Official Platform Calls for Imprisonment of Homosexuals and Supportive Heterosexuals

Is this true? It appears that it is. In which case we are getting right down to the nitty gritty of this question. Homosexuals and allies have got to step up and prove that all people are people worthy of respect. Full respect. And that means rather than cutting down these good religious folks, we have got to talk to them as our brothers and sisters. Ready?????? Let us not talk about "unacceptable" and "bigoted". Let us talk about our common humanity, about compassion, about forgiveness and acceptance. Let us rise above. For I am an ally of the Texans against homosexuals too. Flay me for it. I see their side too. They are afraid. They see our society falling apart and they are trying desperately to protect their children from the influences that they fear most. I wonder if they have taken away the television and fast food yet. Let us imprison the purveyors of soda pop!! But they are people too! Texans, and homosexuals, let's have a beer on the whitehouse lawn. Let's see if we can be civilized about this, live and let live.
A quote from the Texas GOP platform:
Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle in our public education and policy, nor should “family” be redefined to include homosexual “couples.” We are opposed to any granting of special legal entitlements, refuse to recognize, or grant special privileges including, but not limited to: marriage between persons of the same sex (regardless of state of origin), custody of children by homosexuals, homosexual partner insurance or retirement benefits. We oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values.
