Lots of creatures like sugar, though. I'm with you on the flouride, but tooth decay can be part of a chain reaction where bacteria thrive on a carbohydrate-rich (sugar) diet and create an acidic environment. sugar feeds yeast in bread, wine, and beer making. Ants love it. Roaches love it. If you have weak or thin enamel due to genetics, this can problem.
