Realize that Ron Paul would not "dissolve" the security net that we have established. The executive branch alone does not have that kind of power--unless it steals the power, which Dr Paul would not do. What Ron Paul would do is balance the budget such that we would still be able to afford Social Security and other such programs. Certainly, his foundation philosophy is that our government has no business giving handouts. But he recognizes that government is a process of compromise. His policies have a better chance of SAVING social security, in spite of his basic disagreement with the philosophy, than any of the proponents who say they want to save it. Social security and a whole lot of other programs are doomed unless we do something drastic. And sometimes what appears to be devastating is exactly what was needed. I hope that you will keep your mind and heart open and continue to consider all the ideas that are available, rather than dismissing a whole set because of one issue.
