What Kind of Cell Phone Should I Get?
I'm between an iphone and a cheap prepaid phone. I now have an LG. I could live without texting though it is cool. My finances are uncertain, so it is tempting to live on the cheap to sustain. On the other hand, it is tempting to get the tools that are likely to make me most successful, and the iphone could be one of those tools. What say you?
IPHONE
connected in every way, broadband
medical apps, resources galore
camera
costs what an apartment should cost, monthly
CRICKET PHONE
prepaid
cheap
no nuthin extra
could buy an Itouch and get most of what the iphone has, just need wireless

I have a Droid 2. It is heavy and bulky, but I've gotten used to it. Work pays $80/month for me to have this phone. I would not spend the money on a data plan otherwise, at least that's my thinking at the moment. It may change when I am faced with losing email and internet access or forking over the money. I use it mainly for work and personal email, and surfing the web for information (which I do more often than I thought I would).
Battery life is Ok on this phone. If I use an app, I reboot the phone to clear it from memory. If I don't, the process runs in the background and the phone gets hot and drains the battery faster.

I'm considering the iphone because I do not know where I will be in six short months, and it would give me continuity in uncertain times. Also because the medical apps are to die for, so I hear. I have a certain love affair with apple: I'll pay some extra for the joy of using their tools. But I am also low on funds so the money aspect is fearsome.

I'm going to replace my old Windows laptop with an iMac, probably early next year if I can limp the laptop along for a few more months. Since the Macs can run Windows now and I can get a license through the university for cheap, it'll give me the best of both worlds.
LJ has been very quiet lately.
