Arizona Explorations

So. I didn't think I'd get this sucked into Flagstaff. Been running around visiting and hiking and shadowing Dr Welch, MD down in Sedona. Haven't even managed to spend a night in every guest room offered. It's kind of nice. Feeling really tired, though, in between all the activity. Perhaps I should lay around more and read another book.

Finished reading The Fifth Agreement (Ruiz) and really enjoyed it. It is so nice to read something that takes human health and sanity beyond dogma. I still highly recommend The Four Agreements to all humans. Wonderful book that brings me up a little higher every time I read it. Now I'm back to reading Dr Mate's book Encounters with the Hungry Ghost, about addiction. Great book.

I guess I won't be posting much, yet again. It's time to cook grits and eggs for breakfast.

Sounds delightful! I'm a big fangirl of Ruiz. "The Four Agreements" literally changed my life.

btw, one of my fave books on addiction (healing nutritionally, that is) is Kathleen des Maissons "Potatoes Not Prozac". Her approach as an addiction therapist makes me all kinds of happy. Oh, I also like "As Bill Sees it".

Love it when you check in with postees!

Oooh thanks for the book tips. Here there are so many "self-medicating" people and narcotic addicts that I have a specialty market right here if I want it.

T4A as I code it now was a life changer for me too. The agreement which I had not fully applied, and which it took me a long time to realize that I had not, was Always Do Your Best. I was a smartie pants in school and never had to work very hard, so I learned to do the minimum and slip by. It was very different to begin to apply myself. Made all the difference in my self respect. =-] I'm still working on not taking things personally on a daily basis.

You really have gotten sucked into Flagstaff this time, haven't you. I wonder if you'll be one of us who moves away for a few years and returns to find it an enjoyable place to live.

Seems like it's been raining right at noon every day. That makes me think we should be hiking by 7-7:30... what do you think? J said the Bear Jaw/Abineau trail took her about 4.5 hours. I'd like to take some time to hang out and not feel rushed to get off the mountain. We'll have to leave early to accomplish that, though.
