Melamine: the latest ubiquitous toxin

Melamine may be added to more foodstuffs than we know, because it makes them appear "high protein". Remember, this is the toxin that was added to dog food and caused a lot of animals to die of kidney failure. Then it was in baby food. Now they're finding it in eggs, because it's in the chicken feed.

The following symptoms have been observed in infants affected by infant formula laced with high amounts of melamine:

* Unexplained fever arising from urinary tract infections
* Unexplained crying in infants, especially when urinating, possible vomiting
* Small amounts of blood in the urine
* Acute obstructive renal failure
* Pain on urinating, and passage of stones while urinating
* High blood pressure
* Edema
* Pain over the kidneys

It would certainly be wise to visit your physician if your child exhibits any of these symptoms. Melamine “stones” show up on x-rays.

Boobs. Use them.

Yeah, boobs are the most amazing baby feeders. It is becoming increasingly evident that children who aren't breastfed have more allergies, more childhood infections, and more trouble from them. The other thing that's extra good for babies is to squeeze them out through the vagina, instead of cutting them out. Imagine that.

I'm actually involved with the class action suit against Menu Foods. My dog died of kidney failure in January 2007, and in March they published the information. It was heart-wrenching to think that people unwittingly poisoned their own loved ones.

I got involved with the class action suit right away. Now it's settled. But the most horrifying thing about it is that there is no pain and suffering allowed, as dogs and cats are seen as property, not living beings. The laws must be changed.

My dog Mac was the most enlightened being I've ever known. My one comfort is the knowledge that the Buddha himself also died of food poisoning.

Bright blessings to you for your Holiday!

I'm sorry that your beloved beast fell in such a way. In many ways our pets are our teachers... Thank you for writing. It helps to link a person's story to a news story. May your holidays be full of love, and may you consume no foodstuffs that were manufactured in China!
