Ron Paul Cosponsors New Bill to Legalize Marijuana
To eliminate most Federal penalties for possession of marijuana for personal use.
Sponsor: Rep. Barney Frank [D-MA]
Cosponsor: Rep. Ronald Paul [R-TX]

Here's how to cite the bill--
if you want to let your congressperson know how YOU feel about it:
GovTrack.us. H.R. 5843--110th Congress (2008): To eliminate most Federal penalties for possession of marijuana for personal use, and for other purposes, GovTrack.us (database of federal legislation) <http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-5843> (accessed Apr 25, 2008)
"This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced bills go first to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills never make it out of committee. Keep in mind that sometimes the text of one bill is incorporated into another bill, and in those cases the original bill, as it would appear here, would seem to be abandoned."

legalize pot
(Anonymous) 2008-04-26 03:48 am (UTC)(link)Lets see some revenue from taxing it. lol The drug companies, drug test manufacturers, the detox industry and distillers will never let it happen. Money, special interest and corruption is at the root of all of America's problems. There are just too many people who make a living persecuting potheads. When I see the DEA chasing pot sellers, I see cowards too afraid to go after the really dangerous people dealing in the most dangerous drugs. These are the people you'll see at congressional hearings telling us that society will collapse if we legalize pot.
Like so many goods ideas, this won't see the light of day.
