Religiousity in Oregon

Twenty five percent of Oregonians don't subscribe to any particular religion. The national average is 16%. Just heard this on NPR.

Before you get giddy, consider that 99.9999% of all species on earth don't subscribe to any religion either -- only humans are weird enough to invent religions, prisons, armies, and governments. My canary Marlon has more sense than 75% of all Oregonians.

Fear not, I am not attached to the superiority of Oregonians on this point or any.
I've been here since August and it is strange to me.
But there is a different feel to the culture here, I'm still working on comprehending the root of it.
