The End of a Decade

I have been wishing people a happy new decade, but I just got informed. The new decade doesn't begin until 1/1/11. So we have another year before we need to navel-gaze at the decade level.

Also, just randomly notable, 01/02/2010 is a palindrome date, kinda a rare thing. Somewhat less rare but equally arbitrary, this New Year's Eve occurs on a blue moon, meaning, of course, the second full moon in a month.

Pigs are Self-Aware

...As evidenced by the fact that pigs see themselves in the mirror. They even look at themselves from different angles, like a preening human. And pigs will immediately turn around when they see in a mirror someone putting a food bowl down behind them. Here's the abstract.
