Nicotene Replacement Therapy and the Internet

Suzanne is on day 15 of no cigarettes, no nicotene, after having smoked for more years than many of my classmates have lived. She's been reading about the history and marketing of tobacco. Now it appears that the tobacco companies are planning ahead to HELP PEOPLE QUIT SMOKING while they perpetuate nicotene addiction by offering a variety of Nicotene Replacement Therapy options. Sounds medical, doesn't it? It's nicotene gum, lozenges and 24 hour patches. "How to use nicotine patches: Use a new patch every day! Don't skip a day. Be sure to buy more patches before you run out. " The trademark is Zyban®.

I like what Al Sharpton had to say. To paraphrase, he said it wasn't a miscarriage of justice. Justice doesn't miscarry. This was an abortion of justice. Justice was aborted.

Pain

Pain = pain (pān) a feeling of distress, suffering, or agony, caused by stimulation of specialized nerve endings. Its purpose is chiefly protective; it acts as a warning that tissues are being damaged and induces the sufferer to remove or withdraw from the source. The receptors for pain stimuli (nociceptors) are free nerve endings that are abundantly distributed in superficial layers of the skin and mucous membranes, as well as in deeper tissues such as the periosteum, surfaces of the joints, arterial walls, and the falx and tentorium of the cranial cavity.
