tl;dr
This has got to be "gen-x" science. Only a gen-xer would want to find a way to make grapefruit more bitter than it already is.
Gen-xer's like two flavors: bitter and really-bitter (e.g. - microbrews and Starbucks coffee).
This is a generation that will eat the peel and throw away the orange.
