Thank you for sharing your story. Sorry to hear that it's bugging you when you play.

I will look into IMT. PT is definitely essential for the treatment of ALL shoulder injuries...and for the prevention thereof, for us kayakers. I'm curious, what are you doing to strengthen the serratus? I'm guessing it is the serratus posterior that you injured? The serratus anterior is the "pushup muscle" that lays across the ribs. The posterior is under the shoulderblades and helps stabilize them...and more. I have a yoga therapeutics course coming up and I'll inquire about this.

I've had only a little bit of training in taping and I think it is terrific and plan to use it. I think because it has been so helpful on some of my own injuries.

I'll keep my mind open about the timing recommendation for AC fixing. Six weeks seems as if it would be more than enough time for swelling to subside unless the joint was being overused/re-inflamed, so I'm sort of surprised your orthos used that rationale.

It is my experience that most people have a really hard time RESTING their shoulders because we use them all the time and to not use it is nearly impossible unless you have the arm in a sling.
