I realize now the error of my thinking. I was conjecturing that snakes might pee via their penises and hence be animals that have placentae, but really I have no idea how snakes pee. In fact I think they are born from eggs and so they must not have placentae. ...

There is reason to believe that orgasm substantially increases a woman's odds of conceiving for a couple of reasons, one of which is a change in the mucus at the cervix that helps sperm survive, and the other is the muscular contractions that help deliver the sperm to to ovum by a pumping action.

It's really just funny to me how taboo sex is. And evolution, for that matter. We are supposed to be polite and not talk about it.

As for the bird question, ostriches orgasm. They're studying it so they can collect semen for breeding. Apparently enus will ejaculate into a fake cloaka (bird snatch) but ostriches won't. Picky. Male ostriches like to hike one leg up on their partner while they're doing it. =-]
