No idea, really. It seems so deeply engrained as to not be costable, if you know what I mean. The denial of women's sexuality is part of our culture, and so not a conscious choice, but rather a precognitive consensus. The tides of culture wander back and forth without obvious pattern in any one lifetime. The squander is inevitable.
