STAGES OF HEART PUMP CYCLE

LATE DIASTOLE = both sets of chambers relaxed, ventricles fill passively

ATRIAL SYSTOLE = atrial contraction forces a little more blood into ventricles

EDV = end diastolic volume = around 135 ml, the most blood that is ever in the ventricles is there when they finish being relaxed

ISOVOLUMIC VENTRICULAR CONTRACTION = 1st phase of ventricular contraction creates enough pressure to close the AV valves but not enough to push open the semilunar valves
