My brother taught me how to shoot when I was like 8 or 9. And I'm a teacher. I don't own a gun, but I can shoot pretty damn well, so I'll probably get a gun license when I move to Alaska, so I can help my guy hunt.

But yes, not many teachers would have the ability to do what was needed with a gun in such a situation.
