Take the Test: Are you an Asshole?

(Found this on an autism page;
seems like lots of autists score pretty high.)

Well, i got a "3" which is supposed to be pretty low.
But many of the questions are related to the job.
Teaching is (a) a different kind of job, (b) i am now retired, (c) my colleagues were a remarkably decent and level headed bunch of people. and (d) i am not very competitive. All in all i have not had much opportunity to show my asshole side in the workplace. I think my family would be able to certify me, however.

Yeah, I scored the same as you, and really only that by stretching it. I don't really despise people all that much, I just find them irritatingly oblivious... And I see that people in general have good intentions and are willing to work to do right in the world. I don't even reveal my bad attitude to my family---just let them be that way, for the most part.

Well, yeah. My family has seen a "better me" in the last thirty years, and especially in the last three (since i discovered my autism).

0. Only my boss could answer yes to any of those. If he was honest he'd get at least a 15.

I got a 6, which is on the low end of being "possibly a borderline asshole."

I decided that I would err on the side of whatever seemed worse.

I don't really think I'm a borderline asshole, but I sometimes unleash withering scorn one people and things that I determine to be "stupid."

A lot of people think I'm really nice, BTW...

Don't judge me.

Sigh.

I could use a drink.

The line between "asshole" and "direct", or between "nice" and "sneaky", wavers depending on who is judging. I personally prefer assholes to "nice" people, because I like people who tell it as they see it, instead of sugar coating things all the time. Sure, there's a fine line to be played between social grace and getting the job done.... I'm from the east where more directness is tolerated. So I'll be the last person to judge you. And I'm interested in your withering scorn. Don't be shy, not around here, anyway.

There's a minimum of assholishness required to be a good boss. But this guy sounds like he may go past the minimum.

People are quitting this section because they are frightened of him.

Yikes. But you are impervious? Or just resilient.

Thick skinned and I can learn to keep my head down. And I know who to talk to, He was much worse before someone called him off.
